Custom doll based on the "sewn chaos" version of Orianna from League of Legends. My boyfriend saw the character design and instantly asked if I would make a doll of it, which considering how he doesn't normally care for "dolls", came as a happy surprise. Orianna required intensive hand sewing, as leather and upholstery suede are very thick and difficult to sew through, and all of the green stitching was added by hand. I am especially happy with how the realistic boots and hands came out, as they were somewhat experimental. The doll is also extremely fun to play with and pose because of the rotating joints! Her ball was made with a standard 8-piece ball pattern, and has irregular shapes hand-sewn on top of it for the patchwork appearance. Took approximately 30 hours to complete.
Tip for fellow doll makers: When hand sewing through very thick materials, it's good to use a heavy duty needle (so it doesn't break), and also to have needle nose pliers to help pull the needle through the fabric without hurting your fingers! ;D
I was never a fan of dolls growing up, but making my own has given me an entirely different view. They're quite fun when you get creative!
